If appropriate we are able to offer video conference sessions.
A video conference call is a virtual meeting using live audio and video to connect people in different locations, offering features like screen sharing and chat to replicate in-person interaction. Family Focused use platforms Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
At all times Family Focused will continue to follow data protection and privacy policy and safeguarding policies.
When having a video conference appointment
Before the session
- Choose a quiet, private location where you won't be overheard.
- Minimise distractions: Turn off notifications, close other apps, and switch off TV and radios. Let others around you know you are unavailable for the time of the appointment.
- Check your equipment: Ensure a strong internet connection, working camera, and microphone; use a wired connection if possible.
- Position your camera at eye level if possible to show your face and upper body; prop it up securely.
- Sit facing a light source (like a window or lamp) so your face is illuminated, not shadowed.
- Get comfortable, have tissues/water ready, and dress as you would for an in-person meeting.
During the appointment
- If you have headphones these can help to improve audio quality and confidentiality.
- Avoid multitasking; focus on the conversation.
- Tell your therapist if you're having technical problems or feeling off.
- Keep your background free of distracting personal items.
For children
- We will decide before the appointment with the young person what parental involvement will be. We will gain consent with the young person whether they would like the carers/parents to be involved/informed or not.
- Parents may be present in the session for younger children.
