Systemic Therapy has its roots in Family Therapy. Rather than focusing on an individual person and seeing a problem as being located within them, Systemic Therapy explores people in relation to one another and understands difficulties as coming from the patterns of interaction between people, communication, and roles.
This usually focuses on the family but can take account of wider systems such as work, education, or the community.
Together, the Therapist and the family develop an understanding of how their dynamics influence each other, identifying unhelpful patterns of interacting and to build shared understanding, improve communication and discover more helpful solutions to the challenges faced by the family.
Systemic Therapy is effective with a wide range of adult as well as child and adolescent psychological difficulties.
Providing specialist psychological services to children, young people, adults and families across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, including Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby, Derbyshire, Sheffield, Rotherham, Chesterfield and Doncaster.
